About Me

Hi, my name is Paddy Stapleton. I am an English and PE teacher from a small town in Tipperary called Borrisoleigh where I have been entrenched in sports, especially hurling all my life. I was lucky enough to represent my county for a number of years and managed to be apart of some great teams with brilliant players.

Up In The Air: MuckFest Book by Paddy Stapleton

MuckFest is the sequel to the original Up In The Air book that was released in November 2020. Set only a few weeks after the kids of Glenstown lost their county hurling final, this book follows the twists and turns of MuckFest, a famous festival that has been running in the town for the past 50 years.

Fitzy, Lizzy, Bones and all their friends are now split into opposing teams battling it out to see who can win the very special 50th MuckFest. The teams battle it out on the hurling pitch, but there are also points for the stomach-turning and gruelling challenges that each team compete in off the pitch. Club bonds are put to the side as best friends turn to rivals in an intense week long battle culminating in the final game on Muddy Bloody Sunday.

"Finally, Up In The Air by Paddy Stapleton (Orla Kelly publishing) is an absolutely rollicking tale of a young hurler who wants to be captain of his under-14 team, told through a straight narrative interspersed with his dairy entries. The dialogue is hilarious and knowing and the action barrels along. Stapleton won two All-Irelands playing for Tipperary and has clearly found his calling here." - The Irish Times

"Paddy just a quick question, do you have other books published besides 'Up In The Air' which has been a huge hit in my house.  He's asked tonight if you have other books. This is a no brainer for us as he only likes reading books with a connection to sport. In his own words, I love it cause it's so Irish!" - Parent.
